Destination Aviation and STEMtastic™ summer camps have started at the Aerospace Center for Excellence (ACE) on the SUN ‘n FUN Campus. SUN ‘n FUN’s mission is to preserve and enhance the future of flight through world-class events, inspiring and educating people of all ages. This year, after a healthy renovation of seven learning centers on the SUN ‘n FUN campus, students are participating in hands-on age specific activities that offer STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) based learning. Destination Aviation at the Florida Air Museum offers a unique setting with MULTIPLE interactive displays.

Older students have an opportunity to experience flight by piloting a plane on the 4th day of camp under the supervision of Flight Safety International pilots located in Vero Beach, FL. Charting the course and following airplane instrumentation students are in total control in the air. Residential campers participate in evening rocket launches while making new friends as students arrive from all over the world.

During graduation ceremonies at the end of each week, instructors, parents and grandparents are introduced to the criteria and daily situations of professional pilots such as weather, technology, maintenance, flight planning, and aeronautical decision making from student presentation teams. The learning experience is one that can be repeated annually as students are offered more difficult challenges.

Camps run through the end of July and space is limited. For more information visit the SUN ‘n FUN webpage at www.sun-n-fun.org or call 863-644-2431.
